My first post

As a junior high school teacher in Taiwan, I always used traditional way to teach my students, use blackboard and chalks to write down what is important and students just takes notes. I never used computer to help my teaching and didn’t know how it could help my teaching and my students’ learning. But from now on, I think using my blog to interact with my students will not only make teaching more interesting but effective. My idea is that I will use my blog to interact with my students, just like discussion board. For example, when I teach phonics, after the class, I will post the website http://teacher.scholastic.com/clifford1/index.htm on my blog and have students to visit the website and find one interesting thing they learned from the website as assignment, and then post their comments on my blog. And I can give them feedback immediately by posting my opinions on my blog. And this is also a good way to encourage some shy students to discuss with me. I think students will love it because it is an interesting computer-assisted language learning system and a lot of cute words games for them to try.
In fact, I plan to try this interesting teaching method when I go back to Taiwan, because I find that there are a lot of computer-assisted language learning system which can really have a positive impact on students’ language learning. With use of blog, I can also offer plentiful and updated language learning materials or articles to my students and presente them in a colorful and interesting way. I even can post new information all the time, and share my ideas with my students, or give them feedback according to their comments. Just like what we do in our discussion board, I really learn a lot in the process of discussing with you, Dr.Burgos. Anyway, there will be great breakthrough for me to create a computer-assisted language learning environment in my teaching. I really highly praise online learning systems and think that I can also use blog as a useful tool in my EFL teaching in the future.
